Yesterday we broke news of DJ MO’s arrest after he was allegedly harassed by Naivasha police for refusing to pay bribe for an offence he didn’t commit. DJ MO who was driving along the Naivasha Nairobi Highway was put under police arrest for hours after they claimed that his car windows were tinted.
The tale was not as swift as seen as the Naivasha police station gave two different accounts for his arrest. One of them stated that he was over speeding while the initial police men who stopped his car stated that he had tinted windows.
He shared with uliza links on what happened and this is what he had to say.
I was driving along the Naivasha – Nairobi highway early in the morning when a police man on patrol waved for my car to stop. I obeyed his call as a police man of the country and when he asked for my driving licence i gave to him to inspect it. Joined by other policemen Little did I know that the police had other intentions for the day.
They asked me for bribe to let go off the offence that i had committed but i refused. After refusing they added that i was over speeding and said that they wanted to ride in my car to take me to the station but i declined them as there is no law that states that.
That’s when the confrontation started and they started pulling me saying that i was refusing arrest and was not co-operating.
They took me to their police station in Naivasha police station where the filed a report which to my knowledge was conflicting with what the OCS had reported.
I believe this has been happening to many motorists along this highway. I think something should be done as soon as possible.
