NAIROBI, MAY 20, 2015: The on-going infrastructural developments within and outside Nairobi Central Business District (NCBD) has facilitated the current property boom in the outskirts of Nairobi. It has eased the on-going exodus of people from the city to the satellite towns of the nation’s capital city.
The infrastructural developments, especially on roads, have made the satellite towns easily accessible therefore commuting to and from the NCBD hassle free. This has made the towns a preferred location for most of the people moving out from the city centre.
Lamudi Kenya has compiled a list of the most sought out after locations outside Nairobi.
Kitengela
Kitengela town is located in Machakos County. The town has grown immensely over the past few years to be the most sought out after neighbourhood to buy a house. Its proximity to the city and the presence of a rail transport network as another means of commuting from the NCBD has facilitated the conversion of former arid land into a booming affordable real estate frontier. The town has adequate shopping amenities that makes living and staying in the area comfortable.
Athi River
Athi River lies perfectly well along the trunk road, Mombasa Road, still in Machakos County. The availability of affordable land and excellent infrastructure has made the area a prime location for affordable apartments for sale. The apartments which have modern finishes and spacious have attracted the discerning middle class into the area. Athi River also features diverse housing options to fit into the low to middle income segments with the presence of alternative houses in the area such as prefabricated houses.
Naivasha
Naivasha town has grown to be a preferred getaway location for most Nairobi residents. This has resulted to an influx of holiday homes in the town. Naivasha currently hosts a number of gated golf communities such as the Aberdare Hills Golf resort, Osotua Villas and Longonot Gate. The expanding number of middle class moving out of the NCBD has facilitated the growth of Naivasha town. The town is easily accessible through an elaborate road network and air transport.
Thika
Located along the Thika Super Highway, Thika town has grown tremendously after the completion of the superhighway. The town hosts a number of industrial plants for agricultural and horticultural processing, animal feeds, motor vehicle assembly and fast moving consumer goods which have aided in the property growth being experienced in the town. Plush estates have been developed to house the staff of these companies that have also lured Nairobi residents into the town.
