Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has been shot and killed, the SA Police Service confirmed on Sunday.

Senzo Meyiwa post

Police confirmed that the 27-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital on the East Rand in Gauteng.

Details of the attack are sketchy at this stage, but a reward has been offered to anyone with more information.

The SAPS have taken to Twitter to communicate with an emotional public, who’ve rushed to the scene and to the hospital.

Captain of both club and country, Meyiwa played for Orlando Pirates on Saturday at Orlando stadium in their Telkom Knockout 4-1 quarterfinal win over Ajax Cape Town.

We have to brake normal protocol. We can confirm that Bucs keeper Senzo Meyiwa has been shot and sadly declared dead on arrival at hospital.
