Kenyan MP Awarded As Africa’s Change Maker of The Year.

MP Johnson Sakaja has been awarded as Africa’s Change Maker of The Year(2016). The Award seeks to recognize individuals who have played their part in Africa. It cuts across all divides, awarding politicians, musicians and even individuals. The nominated MP is known for the role he has consistently played in representing the youth.

“This is in recognition of your leadership skills and youth empowerment in Kenya. Your standing belief in the young generations and their potentials has made you a remarkable change maker,” reads the letter from the organisers.

At only 31 years of age, Johnson Sakaja has been added to the list of Africa’s change makers alongside Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former Malawi President Joyce Banda and African Union Commission Chairman Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who previously won the award.

Mr.Sakaja championed the enactment of the law that seeks to have 30 percent of all government tenders allocated to the youth, women and people with disabilities. He was also involved in the making of The National Employment Authority Act, which aims to ensure unemployed and qualified Kenyans have easy access to jobs.

He has been involved in National Politics since the 2005 referendum and played a amjor role in the re-election of H.E. Mwai Kibaki in 2007. Sakaja was also instrumental in the constitution making process. He was a key consultant to the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Constitution on the issue of Representation and helped formulate the formula for delimitation of electoral boundaries in Kenya.

The award ceremony will be held in Abuja Nigeria on the 8th of July.
